Atlanta Breast Revision – Breast Implant Exchange

There are a variety of reasons a woman may need an implant exchange. Some of the more common reasons and implant exchange may be necessary have to do with correcting the first implant procedure while others are purely optional.

Atlanta Revision Breast Augmentation – Giving You the Breasts You Deserve

Women may be unhappy with their breast augmentation for a many reasons. Some would like to change the size of their breast implants while others have had complications or undesirable results such as implant rupture or rippling. The only way to change the implants or correct complications is revision breast augmentation.

Revisional surgery usually consists of either removing the scar tissue that inevitably forms around an implant, called a capsulectomy, or releasing the scar tissue called a capsulotomy.  These two procedures attempt to recreate the pocket or space where the implant sits, and thereby restore a more natural feel and appearance.  In some cases a revision can be performed through your previous scars, but often times additional incisions are necessary particularly if excess skin is to be removed at the same time.  Depending on how long your implants have been in place, it may be advisable to replace them with a new set of implants.
