Clinton D. McCord, M.D.

Dr. McCord is a native of Atlanta, completing his undergraduate and medical training at Duke University and Emory University.  He completed his training in ophthalmic plastic surgery in New York with Dr. Byron Smith.  Before private practice with the Paces Plastic Surgery group, Dr. McCord was a professor of Ophthalmology at Emory specializing in oculoplastic surgery.  In 1989 he was elected president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  He is the editor and author of four textbooks on oculoplastic surgery which are considered to be leading books on the subject.  He has published numerous articles and medical journals and is a frequent lecturer in this country and abroad.  Dr. McCord is regarded as one of the leaders and a world’s authority on oculoplastic surgery.  He is considered a “surgeon’s surgeon” and has been recognized in every edition of the “Best Doctors in America”.  Dr. McCord specializes in surgery of the midface and eyelids, orbit and tear duct system.  He has focused on cosmetic surgery and is well known for performing surgery to rehabilitate patients who have had complications from other surgeries or from injuries.  Dr. McCord has a family of a wife and two daughters, one of which is a nurse and the other a photographer.  Dr. McCord’s interests outside of medicine are hiking and mountaineering, having climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with his daughters in 1997 and Cerro Aconcagua in Argentina in 1999.
