Paces is one of the nation's leading centers

for eyelid surgery.

Oculoplastic Procedures

Paces is unique in having an ophthalmologist on staff and several of the physicians have additional formal training in oculoplastics, or surgery of the eyelids and orbit. Primary cosmetic eyelid procedures as well as revision eyelid procedures to correct complications after eyelid surgery are performed on a regular basis by doctors at Paces Plastic Surgery. These factors make Paces one of the nation's leading centers for eyelid surgery.

As with cosmetic eyelid surgery, these reconstructive procedures can be done under sedation or general anesthesia and are most often outpatient procedures.  A ptosis repair is performed through an incision in the natural upper eyelid crease and involves tightening of the muscle that lifts the eyelids.  For lower lid procedures, the lids are typically elevated and tightened with a canthoplasty to resuspend them and reduce symptoms of redness and irritation from corneal exposure.  Because of the delicate nature of the surrounding tissues, there will often be bruising and swelling present for 1-2 weeks following surgery.  Ice, pain medications and lubricants are important components of the post operative care regimen.  Sutures are usually removed 7 days after the surgery.
