Acne

Acne is a skin condition caused by clogged pores that results in white heads, black heads, and inflamed red pimples. Acne can affect all ages, especially teenagers but is also common in adults. It can be particularly embarrassing and stressful and if left untreated result in permanent scars. There are many potential causes and treatments of acne.

Aging Skin

An aged appearance to the skin can be the result of time, sun exposure, smoking, weight loss, medications, stress, and many other factors. There are many options to reverse the signs of aging of the skin including, daily skin care, facials, microdermabrasion, lasers, chemical peels, injectables, and surgery. Our dermatologist can perform a full evaluation of your skin, assess your goals, and recommend a treatment plan that works for you.

Eczema

Eczema (also known as atopic dermatitis) is a skin condition characterized by relapsing inflammation of the skin with intense itching. It is typically treated with topical steroid creams.

Full Body Skin Exams

If you have any skin lesions or moles that are concerning a complete full body skin exam can be performed. A full description and analysis of all your skin lesions can be recorded and followed over time. This can also be helpful for anyone with a family history of skin cancer as changes in the skin be detected and diagnosed early therefore improving the chances of successful treatment.

Hair Loss

Hair loss can occur in both men and women. It can result from many different disease processes or medications, many of which are treatable. There are medications that deter hair loss and surgical procedures that can be done to replace lost hair.

Melasma

Melasma is a disorder of skin pigmentation most often occurring in women and usually on the face. Melasma appears as light or dark brown-gray patches on the skin. It usually occurs as the result of sun exposure or a change in hormone levels (such as during pregnancy). Melasma is usually treated with bleaching creams and sun screens.

Mole Removal

For any mole on your face or body that has changed shape or changed color or is otherwise concerning, it can be removed in clinic and sent to a pathologist for microscopic examination and diagnosis. We typically have the results back within 7 to 10 working days.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic condition that has a scaly, red, ‘stuck on’ appearance. It can occur on the scalp, elbows, knees, hands, feet, and trunk. There are many potential causes of psoriasis with a wide variety of treatment options.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a very common skin disease in adults with many different manifestations. Rosacea can appear as a blushy red coloration in the skin that is long lasting. In more severe cases the redness is more obvious and the skin can have bumps. Rosacea is associated with rhinophyma (a severe fleshy enlargement of the nose, especially the tip). There are other diagnoses that can look like rosacea. Once the diagnosis of rosacea is made there a multiple treatment options.

Skin Cancer Screening and Diagnosis

If there is a history of skin cancer in your family or you have had prolonged sun exposure over your lifetime, skin cancer screening can save your life. A thorough top to toe exam is performed and any suspicious skin lesions can be biopsied and treated. Early diagnosis and regular monitoring are very important aspects of skin cancer screening and avoidance of serious conditions.

Sun Spots

Sun spots occur from prolonged exposure to the sun and can appear as brown spots, brownish moles, or plaque like skin lesions (affectionately referred to as barnacles). The majority of these are not concerning, but it is important to differentiate these benign skin changes from skin lesions that are concerning and require investigation.
